Information for In-Patients

Patient Services

Milton Park Medical Centre features 8 wards in total with two and three bed layouts accommodating a total of 32 inpatients and 18 outpatients.

The medical staff are committed to the comfort and well-being of you and your family members during your hospital stay.

  Hospital Room Options

Patient units are organized by medical specialties and are equipped for your medical care, comfort and safety. You may request your preference, although your first choice may not always be available. When assigning rooms, the hospital considers medical need as our first priority. There are two types of rooms available to patients:

  • Semi-private (covered by medical aid)

  • Private (additional charges may not be covered by medical aid)

It is a good idea to check with your insurance carrier or employer regarding your coverage before coming to the hospital.

  Guidelines on Bringing Personal Belongings

While we encourage you to bring items with you that will increase your well-being and comfort, the hospital cannot be responsible for personal items. To safeguard your personal belongings and to meet hospital rules, we ask you to keep the items you bring to a minimum. Your nurse will list your personal items in an inventory when you are admitted and you may request to place valuables in our hospital safe. Please follow these guidelines during your stay:

  • Please leave valuables such as jewelry, cash or bank cards at home.

  • Battery-powered items are permitted, but please leave electrical appliances (hairdryers, shavers, televisions, radios, etc.) at home, as they may interfere with medical equipment.

  • Personal items such as eyeglasses, hearing aids, dentures and assistive devices like canes should be marked with your name and room number. When not being used they should be stored in labeled cases or containers as appropriate.

  • Additional clothing is not needed and we suggest that you don't keep your casual clothes with you in the hospital. Ask a friend or family member to take home the clothing you wear to the hospital and bring clothes for you when you are ready to be discharged.

  Telephone Use at the Hospital

  • Cell phone use is permitted on patient floors but in certain areas may be restricted due to interference with medical equipment.
